Portorož Airport, LJPZ — The Portorož Airport has concluded its preparedness drill. The event was held Thursday, March 17, 2022.

"A smaller single-engine C-152 aircraft, with a student pilot, landed at Portorož Airport in direction 15 and the plane was spun off the runway by a strong crosswind. Left wing fall off plane and caught on fire. The rest of the aircraft continued to slide on the grass and runway, turned back in direction 33 and stopped. The plane caught fire, the pilot remained in the cockpit. There is a suspicion of spinal cord injury. Up to 150 L of 100 LL petrol can be expected in the wings."
The purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the preparedness and capabilities of the airport, its tenants and local response agencies. Special thanks to PGD Sečovlje for joining the exercise.
