In the event of an intervention, the airport's firefighting and rescue unit is the first to be called to the accident site. Depending on the extent and severity of the accident, the on-duty physician of the Municipality of Piran and the emergency medical services NMP Piran, PHE Obala, may also intervene if necessary. All other employees at Portorož Airport have completed a first aid course, which is annually renewed as part of our job training.
Since 2010, a defibrillator donated by Zavarovalnica Triglav has been available at the airport terminal reception. This allows everyone, including the inexperienced people, to assist in emergency situations and help save lives.
Our airport users, pilots, passengers, and visitors must adhere to the protocol that comes into effect in the event of an aviation accident at Portorož Airport. If you are in the secured area of the airport, such as the airport apron, during an accident, you must immediately leave the secured area to allow airport and other services to carry out rescue operations as quickly and smoothly as possible. You can move to the main hall of the airport and follow the instructions of the airport staff. In the event of an aviation incident, accident, or emergency, air traffic is halted, and flight operations are not possible. It may happen that the airport remains closed for an extended period while the aftermath of the accident is being dealt with. During this time, please be patient and follow further instructions from the staff at Portorož Airport.
Safe flying!
