1962

Beginnings of preparing the ground for the sports airport-grass plot 400 m. Following the LZJ decision to organize in Portorož the III.Adriatic Parachute Cup, the grass plot was extended to 800 m.

27.09.1962

Flight inspection-view the airport and recommendation to issue a 6 month temporary registration as a secondary sports airport-Portorož for the landing of aircraft up to 3000 kg.

Establishment of Aeroclub Piran

III. Adriatic Parachute Cup in Portorož

28.01.1971

The city of Piran decides to build an international sports airport in Portorož.

Julij 1971

The location was approved and the building permits for the reconstruction and construction of VPS 700 m width 20 m were issued.

24.01.1972

Reconstruction complete.

12.02.1973

The decree of ZUCZP to register and licence to use the sport airport Portorož.

Januar 1975

A new organization was established - COAST FLIGHT CENTER

1975

Implementation of construction works on the renewal and extension of the take-off runway, construction of the first part of the airport building and platform.

21.08.1976

Technical assumption of the extended runway at 850x28 m, the airport ramp and the first part of the building.

01.10.1978

OPENING OF A REBUILT AIRPORT, the entry in the register of Airports, registration for panoramic flights.

1979

Hangar for the aircraft 400 m2, purchase of the first aircraft C-172.

02.06.1980

Permit from Federal Commitee for Transport and Communications to use the airport as category ˝D˝ for public transport in the local and international traffic

Service for avio fuel ( 100 LL )

01.05.1981

Landing of TURBO COMMANDER from Passua,9 passengers.

Expansion of the port buildings (control tower, border crossing, meteo, FIO....)

1983

First landing of DASH-7

Assumption of the extended runway to 1200 x 30 m.

20.07.1984

Registration for passenger traffic type DASH-7.

20.03.1986

Construction of the technical hangar for airplanes and fire department.

1989

Illumination of the runway and barriers in the vicinity of the airport for night operation.

21.03.1989

Permit from the Federal Secretary for Transport and Communication for night operations, the establishment of codes of 2C by ICAO classification, the determination of 4 categories of fire department, a permit for take-off and landing of aircrafts up to 27 tons maximum weight.

15.04.1991

"Casino" Touristic company Portorož-the adoption of the constitution of a limited liability: Airport Company Aerodrom Portorož.

13.05.-16.05.2004

Aviatica-Fair of general aviation on the airport Portorož.

Airport Portorož Capital, entry of new members : the municipality of Piran, Aerodrom Ljubljana, Koper road company, Istrabenz, Luka Koper.

Renovation of the airport restaurant.
